1.  Game Rules

ReyCup is played in accordance with the rules of FIFA and, where applicable, the regulations of the Icelandic Football Association.

2.  Type of Tournament

Group Stage & Match Regulations

Teams will be placed into pools of three to six teams. All teams within each pool will play against one another. Final group standings are determined by the total number of points earned:

· Win: 3 points

· Draw: 1 point

· Loss: 0 points

If two or more teams finish with the same number of points, rankings will be decided in the following order:

1. Goal difference

2. Highest number of goals scored

3. Head-to-head result between the tied teams

If teams are still tied, the final decision will be made by the Tournament Committee through a draw.

The match schedule is preliminary, and coaches are responsible for checking with the ReyCup Center for any updates or changes.

Knockout Stage

The winner of each pool will advance to the finals, or to the semi-finals if applicable, depending on the size of the group.

If a semi-final or final match ends in a draw after regular playing time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout in accordance with FIFA rules:

· Three penalties per team

· If still tied, penalties continue one by one until a winner is determined

3.  Classifications

ReyCup follows the international age classification system, whereby each age group forms a team. For example, all players born in the same year compete in the same age category (e.g. players born in 2010 compete in the U16 category).

However, ReyCup allows an exception in accordance with Icelandic Football Association (KSI) regulations, permitting:

· 13- and 14-year-olds to compete together

· 15- and 16-year-olds to compete together

Applications from teams that do not comply with KSI age classification rules are reviewed individually by the Tournament Committee.

A maximum of three (3) older players from the previous age group may participate in any match.

Teams approved by the Tournament Committee are considered fully qualified to compete in the tournament.

4.  Match Period

Matches are played in two (2) halves of 25 minutes, unless otherwise decided and announced in advance. Half-time duration: 5 minutes.

5.  Number of Players

Each team may use an unlimited number of players, and substituted players are permitted to re-enter the match. Substitutions must take place at the midfield line after notifying the referee.

Only players who have been officially registered prior to the start of the tournament are eligible to participate.

6.  Games

  • Prior to the start of the tournament, the Tournament Committee must receive a complete list of player names for all registered teams.
  • The use of shin guards is mandatory for all players.
  • Screw-in studs are not permitted.

7.   Walk-Over

A team that fails to appear for a scheduled match will be recorded as a 3–0 loss.

A team that fails to appear for two matches will, unless otherwise decided by the Tournament Committee, be suspended from the tournament, and all of its results will be removed from the standings.

8.  Playing Fields

All matches are played on natural grass or artificial turf fields.

9.  Referees

Referees are appointed by the Tournament Committee.

· Two referees officiate each match

· Three referees officiate final matches

· In 7-a-side matches, one referee officiates the game

10.  Tournament Committee

The ReyCup Board of Directors appoints the Tournament Committee

11.  Tournament Jury

The Tournament Committee appoints the Tournament Jury, which is responsible for handling written complaints related to tournament matches.

12.  Protests and complaints

All protests must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Jury at the ReyCup Center within one (1) hour of the conclusion of the match in question.

The decision of the Tournament Jury is final.

Players who are suspended are not eligible to participate in the next match following the suspension.

· Two yellow cards result in an automatic one-match suspension

· A red card results in an automatic one-match suspension

13.  Prizes

· The tournament winners will receive the ReyCup Trophy, and each player competing in the final will be awarded a medal.

· Silver medals will be awarded to teams finishing in second place.

· ReyCup places strong emphasis on fair play and a positive attitude among all participants throughout the tournament.

· Bronze medals are not awarded to third-place teams.
