** Walking Football & Football Fitness at REYCUP Senior 2026
“Come and experience the pleasure of friends from distant places gathering in the fantastic Laugardalur surroundings, all sharing the love for the beautiful game of football. Two days packed with fun and games, laughter, excitement, and pure physical outburst.
The Walking Football and Football Fitness part of REYCUP Senior 2026 is unique in the way that the primary goal of every game is equal pleasure of both teams, having had a great game, enjoyed friendship and mutual respect. The final score may be the challenge but not important. Each game is an opportunity to learn new tricks of football, feel the satisfaction and joy of scoring a fantastic goal and rest afterwards with teammates and new friends.
The whole event is an offspring of the international Football is Medicine (FIM) initiative, an exercise mirroring the theories and experience captured throughout many years of study, dialog and interactive exercises. The theory will be addressed in the June 18th conference at the University of Iceland and then in many ways brought into practice the following two-day feast of football.
The takeaway from this great event will be pleasure, new friendships and valuable knowledge on how a team or an individual can build relationships, a healthy body and optimism for a fruitful and rewarding life.
Come to Walking Football and Football Fitness at REYCUP Senior 2026, it will be an experience for life.”
Rúnar Már Sverrisson, Chair of Walking Football and Football Fitness at FC Trottur
REYCUP Senior Walking Football and Football Fitness viewpoint: “Why not using a goalkeeper?”
Football as a recreational sport, for the benefit of general health, is at its finest with all players equally involved in the game, touching, running, kicking and soft interaction with other players. This is lost when using a goalkeeper, fixed in the penalty area, alone, more or less standing still, waiting for the ball.
